Quick version: most athletes announce with a commitment edit, a custom graphic with their photo in the new school's colors. Here is the full step by step.

Announcing your commitment is a big moment, and the order you do things matters. Here's how to announce your college commitment the right way, at any level.

1. Tell the coach first

Call or text the head coach and the coach who recruited you before you post anything. Coaches should never find out on social media. Ask if there's a date they'd like you to post, and whether they want to share it from the team account.

2. Tell the other schools

If other programs offered you or were recruiting you, let those coaches know personally. A short, respectful text keeps doors open, especially if you ever enter the transfer portal.

3. Pick your posting date

Most athletes post the same day or within a few days of committing. If you want a bigger moment, post on your birthday, a team game day, or the early signing period. Order your graphic with that date in mind.

4. Get your commitment edit made

The graphic is what people stop scrolling for. A good commitment edit uses your real photo, your new school's colors and logo, your name and number. A jersey swap puts you in the new uniform before you have it. Commit Circuit commitment edits are done in 24 to 48 hours.

5. Write the caption

Thank God, your family, your coaches and teammates, then say where you're committed. Keep it short if that's you. Need ideas? See our commitment post captions.

6. Post it everywhere at once

Post on X and Instagram at the same time, then a story. Tag the school's team account, your future coaches, your high school and club team.

7. Thank the people who share it

Reply to coaches and teammates who repost. Recruiting is relationships, and that doesn't stop once you commit.
